About me
Hi, I’m Rachael Britton — a 29-year-old makeup artist with a love for wigs, prosthetics, and performance makeup. I graduated in 2019 from Arts University Bournemouth with a BA Hons in Makeup for Media and Performance, where I discovered my passion for creating character through hair and makeup. During my time there, I honed skills in wig construction, styling, prosthetic making, and makeup design, while learning how to adapt to different trends and styles across the industry.
Since then, I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience in theatre, working on more than 25 productions, many as Head of Department. I’ve designed and applied wigs, makeup and prosthetics, and I’ve been lucky enough to lead departments on the Isle of Man and in the UK, creating bespoke looks tailored to each show. My true passion is wig making; I love the artistry of building and styling wigs for theatre, film and television, and I’m excited to keep pushing myself in this area as my career grows.
Alongside theatre, I’ve also worked within the luxury beauty industry. I’ve been a Brand Ambassador for Christian Dior at Selfridges Exchange, Maison Francis Kurkdjian at Selfridges Trafford and previously a Counter Manager for Dior. These roles gave me the chance to combine artistry with client care, from helping people feel glamorous and confident, to learning more about skincare, fragrance, and the business side of the beauty world. I also developed skills in team management and creating beautiful customer experiences.
Now based in Manchester, I’m focusing on building new opportunities in wigs, makeup, and performance work, while staying inspired by current trends in fashion, film, and TV. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me watching shows and films to spark new ideas, or experimenting with creative looks.
